The University of Hawaii’s athletic budget will be bolstered by $800,000 in revenue from nonconference road games this year.
Under terms of an agreement announced Thursday, the Rainbow Warriors will receive $300,000 for playing their sixth road game of a 13-game season on Oct. 4 in Houston against Rice.
The ‘Bows will get a $500,000 check for their Sept. 20 game against Colorado in Boulder, Colo.

As part of the Rice agreement, the Owls are obligated to play at Aloha Stadium on an as yet unnamed date in 2018, also for $300,000.
Originally, UH officials had sought an eighth home game for 2014 largely for revenue purposes but had a prospective deal fall apart last week.
UH and Rice have not met since 2004, when they were members of the Western Athletic Conference and the Owls won 41-29 in Houston.
Rice became available when New Mexico State sought to cancel its scheduled game. The Aggies, formerly an independent, are entering the Sun Belt Conference in 2014 as a football-only member and had to drop one of their five nonconference games.
The Owls went 10-4 and won Conference USA in 2013.
With the addition of Rice, UH could face the possibility of three consecutive road games should the Mountain West send the ‘Bows on the road Sept. 27.
