Oshiro leads HPU to win to wrap up sweep
Junior center fielder Jordan Oshiro drove in two runs and Hawaii Pacific used a five-run seventh to break open a tight game as the Sea Warriors completed a five-game baseball series sweep of Northwest Nazarene on Monday with an 8-1 win at Hans L’Orange Park.
Junior right-hander John Albert (1-0) picked up the win, scattering five hits with three strikeouts and a walk over five innings for the Sea Warriors (5-0). Junior right fielder James Carraway went 3-for-4, scoring twice with one RBI, and junior designated hitter Samuel Goold and junior third baseman Codey Ellenwood each had two doubles.
The Crusaders (0-5) scored their lone run — unearned — in the top of the second, with center fielder Tate Glasgow scoring from second on a throwing error by HPU sophomore shortstop Tyler Tokunaga.
The Sea Warriors open PacWest play with doubleheaders at Fresno Pacific Feb. 22 and 24.

HPU’s Comstock earns weekly honor
Hawaii Pacific junior center Morganne Comstock was named the PacWest Player of the Week after helping the Sea Warriors to a 2-0 campaign.
She averaged 20 points and 15.5 rebounds, including a 27-point performance against BYU-Hawaii, where she hit nine of 14 from the field and was nine of 10 from the line.
Comstock leads the conference in total rebounds (210), defensive rebounds (154) and rebound average (10.5).
Defensive honor to Chaminade’s Kuany
Chaminade freshman guard Kuany Kuany was named the conference’s defensive player of the week as the Silverswords went 1-1.
He averaged 22 points and 17 rebounds for the week, including his sixth double-double with 23 points and a career-high 22 rebounds in the double-overtime loss to visiting Azusa Pacific. Kuany also scored 21 points with 12 rebounds and three steals in the victory at Hawaii Hilo.

» Pablo Coro, BYUH: The junior guard scored 20 points, 12 on four 3-pointers, in a win over Hawaii Pacific. He has 23 3-pointers in his last seven games.
» Joey Rodriguez, UHH: The junior guard scored 23 points with five rebounds and three steals in an 86-83 loss to visiting Chaminade. He has scored in double figures for seven straight games, including four 20-point-plus outings in a row.
Former ‘Sword Murray signs in Australia
Former Chaminade guard Bennie Murray has signed with the Newcastle Hunters of the Waratah Basketball League in Australia.
Murray was the Silverswords’ second-leading scorer last season, averaging 18.2 points per game as the team advanced to the NCAA West Regional.
Murray finished with 871 points in two seasons with the Silverswords, putting him in the top 20 of the school’s all-time scoring leaders.
The WBL season opens next month. Murray’s former teammate Dominique Cooks is playing for the Wollongong Hawks of the National Basketball League, Australia’s top pro league.

Silverswords sign McClanahan
Megan McClanahan, a standout at LaVista South (Neb.) High signed to play next season for the Chaminade women’s team.
McClanahan’s club team, Omaha Elite Academy, won the championships of the U.S. Club Soccer Premier League, the Nebraska Cup U-16 division and the Midwest Regional League U-16. Her twin sister Amanda recently signed to play at Tennessee.
