Junior golfers sweep age-group honors
Spencer Dunaway, Iris Kawada, Kamie Hamada and Cole Shintaku swept major honors in their age groups at the Oahu Junior Golf Association banquet recently.
Kawada and Dunaway were players of the year in the oldest age group (15-18), with Hamada honored in the 11-12s and Shintaku in 13-14s.
Their peers also voted them OJGA Junior’s Choice Award winners. That honor goes to a player "who is an excellent role model and representative of the OJGA." Scores are not part of the criteria, but integrity, work ethic, friendship and "a love for the game and spirit of competition" are.
Other players of the year were Kyra Tomita and Jacob Torres (10-under), A.J. Teraoka (11-12) and Mari Nishiura (13-14).
Other Junior’s Choice Award winners were Noah Koshi, Jake Sequin (tie) and Hunter-Logan Kobayashi (10-under), Davis Lee (11-12) and Cameron Kaneshiro (13-14).
