The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman who died early Saturday morning in an Aiea pedestrian accident as 20-year-old Cherish Samson of Hono­lulu.

Police on Saturday said a woman was hit by a vehicle on Kame­ha­meha Highway at about 4:22 a.m.

Police said speed and alcohol were not believed to have contributed to the collision that killed Samson, but that rainy conditions may have been a factor.

According to police, Samson was crossing Kame­ha­meha Highway when she was struck by a vehicle driven by an Aiea woman. She was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision and died at the scene, police said.

KHON reported that Samson left behind a 3-week-old baby girl and her boyfriend of nearly two years, Seth Amina. The station said she reportedly had been hanging out with a group of friends at Mc­Grew Park before the incident.

Samson and Amina both attended Farrington High School, according to their Facebook profiles. On Jan. 23 Amina posted a picture of their daughter on his profile wearing a pink bib that says "I love mommy" with the caption, "The most beautiful girl in the world. Nata­lee-Mae Samson-Amina."

Near the Pearl Kai Shopping Center, a large memorial was created along the fence that divides Kame­ha­meha Highway, and family and friends also decorated a nearby light post with notes to Samson and several bouquets of flowers.
