Island Air discontinuing Molokai service
Island Air, which has been focusing its resources on Lanai, said Tuesday it will drop service to Molokai. The last flights will be on April 1. The owner of Island Air, billionaire Larry Ellison, bought the small local carrier a year ago and owns 97 percent of Lanai. Island Air’s Molokai-based staff will be offered the opportunity to transfer within the company.
For customers with reservations to or from Molokai on April 2 or later, Island Air will contact them to transfer reservations to another carrier or refund the ticket. Customers can call Island Air at 1-800-388-1105, or email www.IslandAir.com.
First Hawaiian Bank buys land in Kapolei
First Hawaiian Bank has joined furniture retailer C.S. Wo & Sons buying land within a 40-acre site in Kapolei once envisioned to become a retirement community.
The bank bought one acre of land from an affiliate of Kisco Senior Living, a senior-housing developer expected to soon begin construction on 84 rental apartments for seniors called ‘Ilima at Leihano on a 7-acre piece of the site.
The sale was announced Tuesday by commercial real estate broker Colliers International. A purchase price was not disclosed. First Hawaiian said it has "no predetermined plans" for the property. It has one bank branch in Kapolei.

Mauna Kea Resort has named LaRoma Tomosada weddings and special events manager. She will oversee event coordination for the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel properties. She has been account director of catering and events for Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa and director of catering for Outrigger Keauhou.
Paul Brown Salons has announced Carmen Sumner as its new esthetician. Sumner has more than 20 years of experience in the beauty industry and recently owned La Dene Day Spa in Sacramento, Calif., as well as managed two beauty companies in California: Carmen at Dermatique and Advanced Aesthetics by Carmen.
