Fashion show supports Humane Society
The glamour of Old Hollywood will be reflected in a fashion show by Anne Namba, showcasing her new collection of 1930s- and ’40s-inspired evening wear.
The free event, "Mutts and Models," is a benefit for the Hawaiian Humane Society. It will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Namba’s 324 Kamani St. boutique.
Namba is known for her use of Asian-inspired prints and fashions created from kimonos she collects throughout Asia. For this show’s glam looks, she’ll be using a palette that includes touches of silver, pink and purple. Her designs include lots of bias cuts, pleats, sequins and a black, sequined lace gown in a fishtail silhouette. Womens’ garments will be accessorized with jewelry by Anna Meng of The Meng Dynasty.
Canine models will be in scarves and other finery.
The show will also feature evening attire for men, including sleek tuxedo jackets with a modified mandarin collar.
Seating is limited and reservations are required. Call Anne Namba Designs at 589-1135 to attend.
A portion of all sales from the evening will be donated to the Humane Society to care for its animals. The event is a prelude to the organization’s "Tuxes & Tails Bow Wow to Hollywoof" gala April 5, providing attendees an opportunity to pick out something unique to wear to the gala or other special occasions.
