Marine’s court-martial in death of prostitute scheduled for April
A trial date has been scheduled for the court-martial of a Marine accused of killing a prostitute who was visiting Hawaii.
The Marine Corps announced Thursday that Master Sgt. Nathaniel Cosby’s trial is scheduled for the week of April 21 in the death of Ivanice Harris of Las Vegas.
Honolulu police say surveillance footage shows Cosby meeting Harris outside a Waikiki bar and the two were seen kissing in the elevator of a hotel. Cosby was later seen pulling a large duffel bag and loading it into the back of a sport utility vehicle, police say.
Harris’ body was found near Yokohama Bay on the Waianae Coast. Originally from Oregon, she was in Hawaii celebrating her 29th birthday.
Infant’s injuries lead to abuse investigation
Hawaii County and Honolulu police are investigating head injuries to a 2-month-old Holualoa boy who was flown to Oahu for medical treatment earlier this week.
Honolulu police were asked to assist in the investigation involving the infant and a 32-year-old man.
Child Welfare Services in Honolulu reported to Hawaii County police that the infant was taken Tuesday night by a family member to Kona Community Hospital, then was transferred to Queen’s Medical Center on Wednesday morning.
No arrests have been made.
The case is classified as a second-degree assault by Honolulu police and child abuse by Hawaii island detectives.
Molokai access road reopens after cleanup
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources has reopened a portion of the Molokai State Forest Reserve-Maunahui access road that was closed for two weeks because of unsafe conditions caused by heavy rains.
The road was closed on Feb. 4.
Division of Forestry and Wildlife crews removed debris from the road and resurfaced portions of it.
Threat with rifle brings charges for Pahoa man
A 29-year-old Pahoa man was charged Tuesday with threatening a man with a rifle following an argument Monday in a Hawaiian Paradise Park home.
Peter Johnston-Riveira was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and four firearms offenses. His bail was set at $38,000.
