Quarterback Max Wittek said the University of Hawaii "definitely" remains a consideration as he prepares to transfer from USC.
Wittek, who expects to graduate from USC in May with a degree in psychology and will have two years of eligibility, said he is considering several schools, including UH, Texas and Louisville.
He visited Texas last week and said he plans to schedule some more visits next month.
Wittek was ranked the No. 3 "pro style quarterback" in the country in 2011 coming out of Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, Calif., according to Rivals.com. The No. 1 pick was Jeff Driskel, who went to Florida, and No. 2 was Cody Kessler, who eventually beat out Wittek at USC. No. 6 was David Ash, who is the incumbent at Texas.
Wittek said he was interested in UH "because of Norm Chow and, also, the opportunity (to play right away). It is a good system to throw the ball in."
Wittek said, "I work with Steve Clarkson (an independent quarterback coach) and he has nothing but great things to say about Coach Chow."
Wittek said he also liked UH’s schedule, which includes Washington, Oregon State and Colorado this year, plus Ohio State and Wisconsin in 2015. He said he has a brother at Fresno State, "so it would be fun to play against him)."
