For the first time in its 105-year football history, the University of Hawaii will not close its regular-season schedule at home.
The Rainbow Warriors will finish the 2014 season with three of their last four contests, including the Nov. 29 finale at Fresno State, on the road, according to the schedule announced by the Mountain West Conference office Thursday.
UH will play at Colorado State on Nov. 8, at San Jose State on Nov. 15, and close at Fresno State on Nov. 29 sandwiching a Nov. 22 game against Nevada-Las Vegas at Aloha Stadium.
Athletic director Ben Jay said the conference schedule is done by computer and UH’s biggest concern was, "I just didn’t want three back-to-back away games."
That had been a possibility because UH had already scheduled nonconference games at Colorado on Sept. 20 and Rice on Oct. 4. But the conference office dealt UH an open date for the Sept. 27 weekend.
