Counterfeit $125K gets traveler caged
An overseas traveler who entered the country in Hawaii last week is in custody at the federal detention center on charges of possessing and attempting to import 1,257 fake $100 bills.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials arrested Craig Steven Hines at Honolulu Airport on Friday and then turned him over to the Secret Service. Hines arrived in Honolulu from Taipei.
The Secret Service said Hines listed on his customs declaration form that he was bringing oolong tea and chocolate into the United States. When customs officials examined his checked luggage, they found 1,256 suspected phony $100 bills. They found another suspect $100 bill in his wallet.
Suspect arrested in Manoa incidents
A 22-year-old homeless man who some Manoa residents say is responsible for a number of harassment incidents this month was arrested Saturday after reports that he was challenging people to a fight in Manoa Valley District Park.
Yama Fazzari, 22, was arrested at about 7 p.m. and charged with harassment, a misdemeanor. His bail was set at $1,000. No injuries were reported Saturday.
Police confirmed that Fazzari is the person whom Manoa Valley Neighborhood Security Watch has been concerned about since early February. Manoa residents have reported a man sleeping in his car on East Manoa Road near the Manoa Chinese Cemetery who has been harassing people.
