A 22-year-old man awaiting trial for harassing people in Manoa Valley District Park last weekend was arrested again for allegedly verbally threatening a couple at Ala Moana Center.
Yama Fazzari was arrested Tuesday night and charged with first-degree terroristic threatening. His bail was set at $25,000. His preliminary hearing will be held Tuesday in District Court.
In the latest incident, a couple told police that Fazzari confronted them at the shopping center at 8:45 p.m. and verbally threatened them. He fled but was apprehended several blocks from the shopping center at South King and Sheridan streets, police said.
The suspect was then identified by the couple, police said.
Fazzari was released Monday by a District Court judge after being arrested Feb. 22 for allegedly picking a fight with a group of people at Manoa Valley District Park. His District Court trial for the petty misdemeanor offense is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. April 21.
The District Court judge granted Fazzari supervised release over the objections of a deputy city prosecutor. The judge also rejected a request that Fazzari undergo substance abuse assessment and treatment.
Fazzari also was ordered to stay away from the district park.
Police said Fazzari is believed to be the person whom the Manoa Valley Neighborhood Security Watch members said had been harassing residents near Manoa Marketplace and other areas since early February. However, police said, despite numerous reports posted by the Manoa security watch on its website, only two people have filed police reports.
