Celebrate local food at Waikiki event
Foodies: Get ready for another food festival.
WaikiKitchen, a celebration of Hawaii’s local food, will be held 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Kapiolani Park, in conjunction with the Honolulu Rainbow Ekiden race.
More than 20 food vendors including Lanikai Juice, Zippy’s, Hard Rock Cafe, McDonald’s, Pioneer Saloon, Fresh Catch and students from Kapolei High School’s culinary program will be offering ono grinds.
Amid the various booths and activities is the Fish Village, where keiki can view freshly caught fish and munch on poke.

Author will speak on healthful diet
Zoe Weil, author of "Most Good, Least Harm: A Simple Principle for a Better World and Meaningful Life," will speak on how to choose foods that do the most good for the body.
Weil will offer simple tools and principles to create a beneficial diet.
The free event will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Ala Wai Golf Course Clubhouse, 404 Kapahulu Ave. Refreshments will be provided.
Group of seniors to sell baked goods
A food-minded group of seniors who call themselves Simply Unique will offer assorted home-baked fruit breads and cookies, and lilikoi and guava jellies and chutneys at the Nuimono Boutique Sale, a craft fair that runs 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Palolo Hongwanji.
The group’s goods will be for sale at the Giving Table, and proceeds go to Hawaii Meals on Wheels and the Kuhio Elementary School art program.
The event will also feature bentos and other baked goods along with items by crafters. The hongwanji is at 1641 Palolo Ave.
Burger King offers special for Lent
Burger King is providing observers of Lent with sandwich options, reminding diners of its veggie burger and offering a mix-and-match promotion of two sandwiches for $7.
Options include the Big Fish Deluxe, Premium Alaskan Fish Sandwich, Original Chicken Sandwich, Spicy Original Chicken Sandwich and the Big King Sandwich.

Whole Foods sales help out families
Purchase any item at Whole Foods Market in Kailua on Thursday and 5 percent of your sale will help families escape homelessness.
Family Promise of Hawaii is the beneficiary of the store’s latest Community Support Day. The organization provides shelter and meals for families with children. Since its opening in 2006, the nonprofit agency has helped more than 1,200 families get housing.
Museum coupon on doughnut boxes
A box of doughnuts will earn kamaaina and military personnel a 25 percent discount on admission to Bishop Museum.
In celebration of the museum’s 125th anniversary, Love’s Bakery is partnering with the museum to offer specially designed donettes boxes. On the bottom of each box is a coupon for 25 percent off admission with valid ID. The coupon is good for up to four people through April 30.
It is not valid with other discounts or for special events.
Kamaaina admission runs $12.95 adults, $8.95 children. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Tuesdays.
Take to the high sea for St. Patrick’s Day
Celebrate St. Paddy’s Day on March 17 with a sunset cruise aboard the Navatek, complete with dinner.
Guests have two choices: a buffet or a five-course meal.
The buffet dinner, featuring prime rib, costs $99, $55.65 for children 7 to 12.
The Royal Sunset dinner is $129, $72.45 for children; it features roasted tenderloin of beef and lobster.
Both meals include corned beef.
