Gilmore wins Roxy Pro; Moore loses in semis
Australia’s Stephanie Gilmore won the Roxy Pro Gold Coast surf contest in Queensland, Australia, on Tuesday.
She defeated Bianca Buitendag 15.80 to 10.47 in the final of the first ASPâWomen’s World Tour contest of the year.
Gilmore topped Hawaii’s Carissa Moore in the semifinals.
In the ASP World Tour men’s contest, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, Joel Parkinson and Gabriel Medina advanced to Tuesday’s final.
Fred Patacchia was the last Hawaii surfer to be eliminated. He made it to the fifth round, where he lost to C.J. Hobgood.
