Man, 24, wounded in Kaneohe shooting
A 24-year-old man was in serious condition Saturday evening following an apparent shooting in Kaneohe.
Emergency Medical Service personnel were called to a Koolau Hale Place address around 7:45 p.m. and found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The man was transported to a local trauma center.
No other details were available.
Palolo house fire causes $115,000 damage
The cause of a Palolo house fire Saturday morning is still under investigation, but fire investigators say it caused about $115,000 in damage.
The fire was reported at 6:59 a.m. at 1441 Palolo Ave. Firefighters arrived at 7:03 a.m. and had the fire under control at 7:21 a.m. The fire was extinguished at 7:54 a.m., according to fire Capt. Terry Seelig.
The first floor of the house has two one-bedroom apartments and three occupants. The second floor is occupied by 10 people. A separate one-story apartment is attached behind the house, with five people. All escaped without injury. Fire officials said the blaze started in a first-floor unit.
When firefighters arrived, there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the first floor. The flames were beginning to extend to the exterior of the second floor.
Damage was estimated at $100,000 to the structure and $15,000 to the contents, Seelig said.
Help sought in identifying robbery suspect
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a robbery suspect captured on security video.
Police said the man entered Walmart on Keeaumoku Street about 1:55 a.m. Jan. 16, selected a bicycle and left the store without paying. He threatened an employee who tried to stop him outside.
