Vulcans’ Kurokawa earns weekly honor
Hawaii Hilo sophomore pitcher Jordan Kurokawa was named the conference co-pitcher of the week following an impressive performance on the road.
The Maryknoll graduate did not allow an earned run in 111⁄3 innings pitched over two starts last week, with just one earned run in his past four starts (192⁄3 innings). Kurokawa (2-2) struck out two in two scoreless innings of a 2-1 nonconference loss at Sonoma State and then earned a complete-game victory at Academy of Art, giving up one unearned run and six hits while striking out six as the Vulcans won 5-1.
Kurokawa shared the honor with Azusa Pacific’s Zach Hedges.
