"You’ve never seen anything like this!" That’s Hawaii Opera Theatre’s promise about its production of "Pagliacci" and "Carmina Burana," which continues at the Blaisdell Concert Hall Sunday and Tuesday.

"Pagliacci," a powerful story about love, jealousy and death, is paired with the choral masterpiece "Carmina Burana" to stunning effect, bringing to the stage a viscerally emotional story that will be familiar to audience members given how the classical works continue to influence popular culture. Major League Baseball’s regular season starts Sunday (if you don’t count the Dodgers-Diamondbacks games in Australia last weekend). At the moment there are four starters from Hawaii: Shane Victorino, Kolten Wong, Jerome Williams and Kurt Suzuki.
