Celebrate Earth Month at the Grow Hawaiian Festival, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Bishop Museum. The event, presented by Hawaiian Electric Co., encourages clean energy, conservation, sustainable practices and native culture with hands-on family activities. There will also be a farmers market and gourmet grinds from some of Hawaii’s top chefs.

Kahuku Farms Lilikoi-Butter Butter mochi

1 pound mochi flour
2-1/2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons baking powder
5 local eggs
1-1/2 cups cold whole milk (may substitute with 2 percent)
1 (12-ounce) can coconut milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
16 ounce jar lilikoi butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat 9-by-13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
In large bowl, mix dry ingredients.
In another bowl, mix eggs, milk, coconut milk and vanilla.
Add egg mixture and lilikoi butter to dry ingredients and mix by hand until smooth. Pour into pan and bake 1 hour.
Cool, cut and serve. Makes 18 pieces.

Island Fresh Mango and Macnut Bread

2 cups flour
1-1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup vegetable oil
3 local eggs
1 cup diced ripe mango
1/4 cup chopped macadamia nuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
In large bowl, combine dry ingredients.
In another bowl, mix oil and eggs.
Add egg mixture to dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Add mangoes and nuts; stir to incorporate.
Pour batter into pan; bake 45 minutes or until golden brown. Serves 10.
