Dixie State sweeps Chaminade

The Dixie State softball team shut out Chaminade, 8-0 and 16-0, in a Pacific West Conference doubleheader in St. George, Utah, on Tuesday.

In the first game, Aryn Feickert pitched a four-hit shutout and struck out seven in the win. Nicole Chavez went 3-for-3 for Dixie State. Ashley Phelps went 2-for-2 for the Silverswords in a game that lasted six innings.

In the second game, Dixie State (31-8, 19-5) scored 10 runs in the second inning. Elia Lizarraga and Sierra Mendiola each had two hits for Chaminade (7-23, 6-20), which has lost 15 games in a row.
