Man accused of robbing teen, guard
A 25-year-old Aliamanu man was arrested Friday after he allegedly robbed an 18-year-old man and a security guard at the Salt Lake Shopping Center on Thursday night.
Police said the suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash from an 18-year-old man about 6 p.m. The victim reported the theft to a 62-year-old security guard.
When the security guard confronted the suspect, he allegedly stole items from the guard as well and fled.
Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of second-degree robbery and second-degree theft.
Surfer almost drowns in Ewa Beach
Paramedics took a 56-year-old man to a hospital in critical condition after a surfing accident in Ewa Beach on Friday morning.
Paramedics responded to Ewa Beach Road at 9:30 a.m. after a report that a surfer nearly drowned, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
Slaying suspect brought back to Oahu
The 31-year-old man suspected of stabbing a homeless man to death in Kailua in January has been extradited to Honolulu from California.
Robert Roediger-Geauque is accused of killing 37-year-old Scott MacMillan on Jan. 13.
Police in Santa Barbara, Calif., received a tip that Roediger-Geauque was in their jurisdiction on March 1. After conferring with Honolulu police, they located and arrested Roediger-Geauque on March 6.
Roediger-Geauque was returned to Honolulu on Friday and is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder. His bail has been set at $5 million.
Motorcyclist dies in crash on Maui highway
A 63-year-old man died after a motorcycle accident in Kihei early Friday on Piilani Highway.
Police identified the victim as Clifford Spencer, 63, of Kahului. He died from his injuries after the crash at 1:56 a.m.
Police said Spencer was driving a black 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Piilani Highway near Kaiwahine Street when he lost control of the motorcycle and hit a guardrail.
Spencer was not wearing a helmet, police said.
The death is the fourth traffic fatality on Maui this year, compared to four at the same time last year.
Man suspected of stabbings in Kailua-Kona
One man was arrested and two others hospitalized after apparent stabbings in Kailua-Kona on Thursday evening.
Police were called to Alii Drive and Kahakai Road, across from the Coconut Grove Shopping Complex, about 10:10 p.m. and found two men, one 43 and the other 38, with lacerations to their abdomens.
The men, from Kailua-Kona, were initially treated by fire rescue personnel and transported to the Kona Community Hospital. Their injuries were not life threatening.
Police arrested a 43-year-old Kailua-Kona man on suspicion of two counts of second-degree assault.
