Moore ousts Ho in Rip Curl Women’s Pro
In a battle of local girls, two-time ASP champ Carissa Moore knocked out Coco Ho in the quarterfinals of the Rip Curl Women’s Pro Bells Beach on Tuesday in Victoria, Australia.
Ho posted a 13.77 score, but Moore responded with a 17.84 to advance to the semifinals against Australia’s Sally Fitzgibbons in the ASP Women’s Championship World Tour event.
Fitzgibbons edged Hawaii’s Malia Manuel, who finished in fifth place.
Both the men’s and women’s events were called off Tuesday afternoon as the swell dropped off.
Florence posts perfect 10 at Bells Beach
Hawaii’s John John Florence posted the season’s first perfect 10 Monday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, a stop on the ASP World Championship Tour.
Surfing in the second heat of the fourth round with 11-time ASP champ Kelly Slater and current WCT No. 1 Gabriel Medina, Florence pulled off an incredible semi-inverted full 360-degree aerial to earn a perfect score.
Florence (18.00) won the heat and advanced directly to the quarterfinals.
Fred Patacchia (12.17) took second in his heat behind Australia’s Mick Fanning (16.34) and will take on Jordy Smith in the fifth round.
