Cal Baptist sweeps Brigham Young-Hawaii
The Brigham Young-Hawaii softball team closed out its mainland road trip with two five-inning losses to Cal Baptist at Riverside, Calif., on Tuesday. The Seasiders dropped the doubleheader 10-1 and 10-0.
Whitney Gustafson scored BYU-Hawaii’s only run of the day in the top of the first inning when Taylor Alvarez stole second. The Lancers (39-11, 23-5 PacWest) responded with two runs in the bottom of the first and eight runs in the bottom of the second inning.
The Seasiders (10-24, 6-22) couldn’t muster their offense in the nightcap and finished with just three hits and two errors.
Hawaii Hilo women clinch PacWest golf
The Hawaii Hilo women’s golf team finished with a final score of 623 to claim the Pacific West Conference Women’s Golf Championship on Tuesday at Hawaii Prince Golf Club. The Vulcans beat out California Baptist by three strokes.
UHH’s Kristen Sawada captured the individual title with her final-round 4-over 76. Teammate Jade Salvador finished one stroke behind her (76-75), tied with Academy of Arts’ Crystal Wang.
