The nonprofit advocacy group Parents for Public Schools is launching its "1,000 Family Voices" campaign to mobilize support for Hawaii’s public schools. The group is collecting letters, videos and artwork expressing what parents and students like about their schools and what they are concerned about, as well as ideas to improve campuses throughout the state.
Participants are encouraged to consider the following prompts, and submit their thoughts online or by mail by June 1.
» What I love about my child’s school is…
» What has helped my child’s learning is…
» My biggest concerns are…
» If I could talk to our state leaders I would say…
People can comment on the group’s Facebook page at http://facebook.com/ppsHI, upload videos and other images at PPSHI.org, email comments to PPSHI.org@gmail.com or mail submissions to PPSHI, 2814 Lowrey Ave., Honolulu, HI96822.
Opinions and ideas collected will be delivered to Gov. Neil Abercrombie, state Senate President Donna Kim, House Speaker Joe Souki, the Board of Education and Department of Education, the Hawaii State Teachers Association and the Hawaii Government Employees Association, and be displayed for the public.
