The Hawaii Bowl will remain on Dec. 24 this season but is looking for a new title sponsor after ending an 11-year run by Sheraton Hotels.
The title sponsorship has been the sixth longest among the 35 bowl games.
"Sheraton’s transition to official hotel sponsor provides a greater opportunity for another entity to provide additional support to the Hawaii Bowl so as to build a synergy that will allow the Hawaii Bowl to reach even greater heights," said Cheryl Williams, regional director of sales and marketing for Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
Sheraton replaced ConAgra Foods as the title sponsor in 2003.
The game is owned and operated by ESPN Events, which said it is talking to several candidates about title sponsorships.
"We’ve had conversations with, probably, about a half-dozen other entities," said David Matlin, the game’s executive director. "I’m optimistic we’re going to find one (for 2014)."
A date for the game had been up in the air due to the expansion in the number of bowls to a record 38 this season. But Matlin said the Hawaii Bowl will remain on Christmas Eve, where it has been the past six years. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The game is set to match representatives from the Mountain West Conference and Conference USA. Hawaii will represent the MWC if the Rainbow Warriors win at least seven of their 13 regular season games.
