Leisha Li‘ili‘i was rewarded for her most productive season at the plate with first-team all-conference honors Tuesday.
Li‘ili‘i , a junior first baseman, was among three Hawaii players recognized by Big West softball coaches with places on the all-conference teams.
Rainbow Wahine shortstop Sarina Jaramillo made the all-conference second team and was named to the All-Freshman team. Senior second baseman Jazmine Zamora earned honorable-mention recognition.
Li‘ili‘i started all 50 games at first base while hitting fourth in the batting order and led the Wahine with a .401 batting average, up 100 points from last season, when she earned second-team All-Big West honors.
The Castle graduate also finished the season with career highs in doubles (nine), home runs (15), slugging percentage (.796) and on-base percentage (.523). She led the team with 34 walks while striking out just 14 times in 176 plate appearances.
Li‘ili‘i ranked third in the Big West in batting average, second in home runs and tied for third in RBIs. She picked up the pace in league play, hitting .439 in 21 Big West games with seven homers and 19 RBIs.
Jaramillo took over at shortstop early in her freshman year and hit .264 overall with three home runs and drove in 19 runs.
Zamora finished third on the team with a .295 batting average with four homers.
UH closed the season Saturday at 22-28 overall and 7-14 in conference play to finish seventh.
Cal State Fullerton third baseman Missy Taukeiaho was named Big West Player of the Year and Cal Poly freshman Sierra Hyland was the Pitcher of the Year. Long Beach State’s Kim Sowder was voted Coach of the Year after leading the 49ers to the Big West title.
LBSU shortstop Shayna Kimbrough was named Defensive Player of the Year, Hyland was the Freshman Pitcher of the Year and UC Santa Barbara’s Kristen Clark was Freshman Field Player of the Year.
