Like to commute on two wheels?
A series of events is planned to celebrate Bike Month in May, including Bike to Work Day on Friday.
From 7 to 9:30 a.m. the Hawaii Bicycling League and local sponsors are celebrating the day on two wheels with several "energizer stations" providing free coffee, juice, bagels, doughnuts and fruit to bicycle riders in Honolulu.
The stations will be set up downtown, at Punchbowl Street and the Civic Center bike path; in Kalihi, at Dillingham Boulevard and Waiakamilo Road; on Woodlawn Avenue in front of Manoa Public Library; at Kapahulu Avenue and Date Street; in Waikiki, across from Honolulu Zoo; and in Kakaako, at Ward Avenue and Halekauwila Street.
Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell signed a proclamation designating Friday as Bike to Work Day and the entire month as Bike Month in Honolulu. May is National Bike Month. Established in 1956, National Bike Month showcases the benefits of bicycling.
