A bomb squad technician suits up on Radford Drive near the Navy Exchange Monday morning.

Roads leading to the Navy Exchange reopened after officials investigated a suspicious package and found it was not dangerous.

Traffic cameras showed Radford Drive closed and a bomb squad technician putting on a protective suit at about 7:30 a.m.

John Hageman, a Navy spokesman, said the package was found just before 7 a.m. and Radford Drive and Bougainville Road around the exchange were closed as federal, military and Honolulu police responded to the incident.

Hageman said a command post was established and roads were closed Monday morning "in an abundance of caution and following routine procedures."

The object found was turned over to Honolulu police.
