Motorcyclist badly hurt in crash
A motorcycle crash Wednesday morning left a 33-year-old man in "extremely critical" condition.
Police closed the Nimitz Highway offramp in the Ewa direction of the H-1 freeway after the crash at about 6:05 a.m., according to police and an Emergency Medical Services report. The offramp reopened at about 9 a.m.
Police said the man sideswiped a curb, lost control of his 1991 Honda motorcycle and skidded across the highway, hitting a concrete barrier on the other side of the road.
The man was wearing a helmet. Police are still investigating whether speed or alcohol was involved.
Dead man’s injuries ‘suspicious’
Maui County police are investigating a "suspicious" death on Molokai.
Police said a passing moped driver saw a man motionless on the road at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday near mile post 15 on Kamehameha Highway in Mapulehu.
Emergency crews responding to the scene were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the victim as Koshari Kahikili, 20, of Mapulehu.
Police said Kahikili suffered a head injury and his death appears suspicious.
Kahikili’s body was flown to Maui, where an autopsy will be performed.
