CINDY ELLEN RUSSELL / CRUSSELL@STARADVERTISER.COM The Department of Public Safety revealed a remodeled visitation area at the Halawa Correctional Facility on Tuesday. What was once a communal area for family and visitors to meet with inmates has now been cordoned off with partitions. The security measures are a response by the department to stop contraband smuggling into the medium-security prison population as well as to address staff shortages during visiting hours.
