UH football season tickets go on sale
Season tickets for the 2014 University of Hawaii football season will go on sale Monday. Season-ticket prices remain the same as last year and range from $75 to $145.
The Rainbow Warriors’ schedule includes seven home games, including their season opener against Washington on Aug. 30.
Season tickets will be available for purchase online at hawaiiathletics.com, at the Stan Sheriff Center box office on weekdays (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or by calling 944-2697 during the same hours.
Owens leads Argos to first win
Chad Owens accounted for 248 total yards and scored on a 14-yard touchdown reception to help Toronto blow past Saskatchewan 48-15 on Saturday for the Argonauts’ first Canadian Football League win of the season.
Owens caught 11 passes for 159 yards and returned six punts for 89 yards with a long of 45 to help the Argos improve to 1-1 overall.
Schweitzer wins SUP event in Finland
Maui’s Zane Schweitzer won the long-distance race and was second in the sprints in Sieravuori, Finland, on Saturday to take the overall title of the Stand Up World Series European Cup’s third stop.
It was the third consecutive overall tour win for the Lahaina native heading into the next event, July 18-20. The $25,000 Camp David World Cup of SUP will be held in Fehmarn, Germany.
In the field in two weeks are two other Maui stand-up paddleboarders: current points leader Connor Baxter and last year’s Germany stop winner Kai Lenny, ranked No. 2.
Gayagas, Dailey to speak at QB Club
Edwin Gayagas and Devon Dailey will speak at the Honolulu Quarterback Club luncheon Monday at Maple Garden restaurant.
Gayagas is one of 14 veterans on Team Hawaii, which just returned from the National Veterans Golden Age Games in Fayetteville, Ark. The team competed in 20 events, including golf, swimming, track and field and air riflery. Dailey is a member of the Hawaii Polo Club, which celebrates its 51st anniversary of playing at Mokuleia this year.
The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and the cost is $15.
