Caesars Entertainment has announced that The Quad, only recently renamed after years as the Imperial Palace, is getting yet another moniker.
The new name will be the Linq Hotel & Casino, which will brand the resort with the bar and entertainment district of the same name that opened at mid-Strip earlier this year.
The renaming will include a $223 million redevelopment, including 2,256 completely remodeled "modern urban" rooms, a new pool and spa, bars, lounges and gathering areas. They’re not wasting any time, either, with an opening date set for Halloween and promised introductory rates starting at $89.
Taco Tuesdays: The Commissary at the Downtown Grand serves up good 99-cent street tacos from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays only. The choices are chicken, brisket and bean and cheese, and one of each will do ya. But if you only want one, go for the brisket, which is the Commissary’s specialty.
Back room: Silver Sevens (formerly Terrible’s) has opened a new steakhouse called the Back Room that’s actually a curtained-off section in its Sterling Spoon coffee shop. It operates on Friday and Saturday nights only and features good steaks priced from $25 to $35. A couple can have a fancy meal here for well under $100.
TGI Fridays happy hour: The TGI Fridays outlets don’t advertise it much, but they run a good happy hour daily from 3 to 7 p.m. and again from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. It’s called "6-5-4-3" for $6 appetizers; $5 sangria; $4 20-ounce draft beer, well drinks and wine; and $3 14-ounce draft. TGI outlets are in the Suncoast, Orleans, Sam’s Town, Gold Coast and Aliante casinos.
