18-year-old man jailed in fatal shooting
An 18-year-old man remained in jail Monday, pending charges, after his arrest on suspicion of murder and terroristic threatening following a manhunt in Kahaluu and Kaneohe on Sunday afternoon.
Police arrested the man at 6:30 p.m. Sunday on Lamaula Road in Kaneohe after an hourslong search following the shooting of a 65-year-old man at a home at Waihee Road and Kamehameha Highway.
Police say the suspect shot a 65-year-old man in the head just after noon Sunday. Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where he died at 7:15 p.m.
There were two other men in the house at the time of the shooting, police said.
The suspect allegedly threatened to shoot a 36-year-old man, who fled the home and called police. The suspect also allegedly stole a wallet from a 17-year-old boy.
Gunman robs Waipahu’s Jack in the Box
Police are looking for a man who robbed the Waipahu Jack in the Box restaurant at gunpoint Monday morning.
Police said the armed robbery occurred at 4:40 a.m. at Farrington Highway and Moloalo Street.
It’s the second robbery of a Waipahu business in two days and the third business robbery in three days in the Pearl City-Waipahu area — a 30-year-old woman was robbed at a Waipahu business at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, police said, and a man entered a Pearl City business, brandished a weapon and demanded money at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday.
