Hawaii isle driver dies of crash injuries
Hawaii County police say a 20-year-old Kau man may have been drunk and speeding when he lost control of his truck on Hawaii Belt Road and veered off the highway, hit a lava embankment and rolled over twice, ejecting the driver.
Austin L. Yurong of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates died Sunday at the Queen’s Medical Center, where he had been taken after being treated at Kona Community Hospital. He was found lying unconscious on the road’s shoulder.
Victim of fatal motorcycle collision ID’d
The city Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 26-year-old Aiea man who was killed Saturday when the motorcycle he was driving collided with another motorcycle.
Nickolaus Siu died at the scene of the collision on the onramp of the H-3 freeway from Likelike Highway in Kaneohe. Police said excessive speed is a possible factor in the crash.
Man will be tried in machete attack
A 22-year-old Waianae man will be tried in Circuit Court in September for allegedly attacking a man with a machete during a fight last month. Haron Suda pleaded not guilty Monday to one count of first-degree terroristic threatening. He is free after posting $25,000 bail.
