New motor sports radio show will include celebrity interviews and racing updates
Award-winning radio hosts Ed Kemper and Bill Maloney will debut their new radio show, "Motorsports Roundup," at 9 a.m. Saturday on Honolulu NBC Sports Radio affiliate KHKA-AM 1500.
The show’s focus will be on local, national and international motor sports, including Formula One, Indy Cars, NASCAR, Nationwide, NHRA, World Rally, sports car racing, vintage and motorcycle racing, Kemper said in a statement.
Interviews of legendary race car drivers including Mario Andretti, Dan Gurney and Parnelli Jones will be part of the show, as will appearances by local personalities, including motorcycle enthusiast and comedian Andy Bumatai and sports writer Steve Murray of MidWeek.
The duo also will keep listeners informed of events staged by Hawaii Region Sports Car Club of America, as well as other automotive-related events.
The show, which succeeds the "Ohana Road" radio program, will repeat Sundays at various times on KKEA-AM 1420, the Honolulu ESPN radio affiliate.
Full-page ads ask owners of recalled GM vehicles to keep their key rings light
General Motors is advising consumers to use a single key in cars affected by ignition problems until their recalled cars can be repaired.
The company ran full-page advertisements in some newspapers on Thursday asking drivers to remove all items from their key rings because anything beyond the weight of a single key — including a key fob, rewards cards or other ornaments usually attached to key chains — may trigger the ignition to turn off.
GM has recalled 29 million vehicles this year, more than half of which were linked to defective ignition switches. At least 13 deaths have been linked to the problem.
The ads also asks drivers to make sure the transmission is in the "park" position before leaving the car.
Manual transmissions should be placed in reverse, according to the ad. In each case, the parking brake should be applied.
GM last year sold 2.8 million vehicles in the United States and 9.7 million worldwide.
