Woman arrested in downtown homicide
Detectives have opened a homicide investigation following the death of a woman early Monday morning in downtown Honolulu.
Police arrested a 42-year-old woman on suspicion of second-degree murder following the 4:30 a.m. incident at Adams Lane and Bishop Street near the Hawaiian Telcom building.
The victim, a woman in her 40s, was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where she died.
Both the suspect and the victim were believed to be homeless.
Man held in stabbing, alleged kidnapping
Police arrested a 27-year-old Salt Lake man who was the subject of a search this weekend after allegedly stabbing a man Sunday.
On Sunday afternoon police issued a missing-persons bulletin for the suspect and a 26-year-old woman, who were last seen downtown that morning.
Police said the two were involved in a domestic incident.
The search ended Sunday night with the arrest of the man on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with a stabbing of a man in his 40s earlier Sunday and for the alleged kidnapping of the 26-year-old woman.
Police arrested the man at 6:30 p.m. on Maunalani Circle. They did not say where the stabbing and domestic incident occurred.
Detained teen accused of assaulting guard
A 17-year-old boy was turned over to the jurisdiction of Family Court after he allegedly assaulted a 39-year-old corrections officer at a Kapolei juvenile facility Saturday.
The alleged assault occurred after 2 p.m. Saturday. Police arrested the teenager on suspicion of second-degree assault. He was sent to the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility on Sunday after he was charged.
The corrections worker was struck on the arm, police said.
