Sandbow Tiegs wins gold
Hawaii All-American Brittany Tiegs teamed with Florida State’s Jace Pardon to win the beach volleyball gold medal Sunday at the World University Championship in Porto, Portugal.
The U.S. pair defeated Kim Behrens and Sandra Seyfferth of Germany 21-18, 21-12 in the final.
Sawada wins Prince Invitational
Jared Sawada shot a 2-under 142 to capture the 2014 Prince Invitational men’s open championship over the weekend at the Princeville Prince Course on Kauai.
He defeated amateur Alex Chiarella (143) by a single stroke. It was the second tournament title for Sawada, who won the event as an amateur in 2012.
Steve Mickle won the A flight with a 165. Dayron Vargas took the B flight with a 179.
