Charging stations, water available

Hawaii Electric Light Co. on Hawaii island opened a customer information center Monday at the Hawaiian Shores Community Center in Hawaiian Beaches.

Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Electric company representatives will answer questions and provide status of repairing damage caused Friday by Tropical Storm Iselle.

Charging stations will be available at the center.

Hawaii Beaches Water Co. will distribute water free. Each family may receive up to 5 gallons but must provide containers.

As of Sunday night, HELCO said, about 10 percent of Hawaii County was without power, and it could take a week to restore electricity.

Most of the 8,000 customers in Puna are without power. Similar outages are reported on the east side of the island.
