Paddleboarder who died is ID’d
The Medical Examiner’s office Thursday identified the 63-year-old Mililani man whose body was found near Pearl Harbor as Dale Ishiara.
The Coast Guard said it received a report around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday of a paddleboarder who had not returned to the recreation office at Hickam Air Force Base.
The Coast Guard helicopter searched the waters off Pearl Harbor and found the paddleboarder Wednesday north of Buoy 1 near the mouth of the Pearl Harbor channel. His body was retrieved by a Coast Guard boat crew, brought to Aloha Tower around 4:30 p.m. and taken away in an ambulance.
Police have classified the case as an unattended death.
The Navy said Ishiara was not a service member and was last seen leaving Hickam Beach at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
