A 23-year-old Makiki man who was arrested after Manoa residents say he was harassing their neighborhood earlier this year was arrested again.
This time, Yama Fazzari faces a charge of prostitution after he was picked up just before midnight Wednesday at Ala Moana Hotel. Fazzari posted bail of $750 and was released Thursday.
The charge of prostitution can refer to either soliciting or providing the service. Police did not release details of his arrest. He will appear in District Court Sept. 18 on the prostitution charge.
Fazzari was arrested Feb. 22 for allegedly picking a fight and kicking people at Manoa Valley District Park.
In June, he pleaded no contest to the harassment charge and was sentenced to seven days in jail and fined $30.
Fazzari also was arrested Feb. 26 for allegedly threatening a man and his wife at Ala Moana Center. Police said he confronted a couple as they left Macy’s on the shopping center’s third floor. He walked up to a 33-year-old man, bringing his face close to the other man’s face, and allegedly threatened the man, his wife and their dog.
Trial on the first-degree terroristic threatening charge is set for Sept. 8.
The Ala Moana incident occurred a day after Fazzari was released by a judge after his arrest Feb. 22 for allegedly picking a fight and kicking people at Manoa Valley District Park. He also was ordered to stay away from Manoa Valley District Park under the terms of the supervised release.
Fazzari also is scheduled to go to trial Sept. 17 for allegedly assaulting a man on July 1 near the McDonald’s restaurant in Kahala. He was charged with third-degree assault.
On June 19, he also entered a plea of no contest to a charge of resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle. He was given credit for the seven days he had previously been in jail.
According to a police affidavit, police tried to arrest him on June 6 for several outstanding criminal warrants in the parking lot of Kaimuki Library, but he fled even after the arresting officer hit him with pepper spray.
He was located 15 minutes later by several other police officers and after a short foot chase by police, he was caught at 21st and Pahoa avenues and arrested.
Fazzari is believed to be the person whom the Manoa Valley Neighborhood Security Watch members said had been harassing residents near Manoa Marketplace and other areas in the valley since early February, according to police.
His conviction record, which begins in 2010, includes three petty misdemeanors for third-degree assault, second-degree assault and terroristic threatening as well as two violations for disorderly conduct.
