Farrington running back Ranan Mamiya ran for three touchdowns in the first half and the fifth-ranked Governors pulled away from Moanalua 47-27 on Friday night.
Challen Faamatau added two more scores to counter Moanalua quarterback Kawika Keama-Jacobe’s 556-yard, three-touchdown passing performance.
Mamiya entered the game averaging 16.8 yards per carry. He went 18 yards for a touchdown on his first touch of Friday’s game and had 90 yards on 10 attempts in the first half.
Moanalua answered with Keama-Jacobe connections with Karson Cruz on four completions of at least 30 yards before halftime.
The first went for 72 yards to set up Walter Peters’ 1-yard touchdown run. They connected again for a 52-yard touchdown pass that gave Moanalua a 12-7 lead late in the first quarter.
Mamiya answered with a 25-yard touchdown run and defensive lineman Seufagafaga Luafatasaga scooped up an errant shotgun snap for another score seven seconds later.
After Cruz outjumped a defender to snag a 40-yard touchdown pass to close to 22-19, Farrington scored 22 unanswered points, with Faamatau reaching the end zone on a 24-yard pass and a 6-yard run.
Keama-Jacobe added a 30-yard touchdown pass to Michael Feliciano, but Farrington thwarted five Na Menehune scoring threats inside the 20.
