North Shore 5K Swim is on Saturday

The North Shore 5K Swim & Relay, a 3.2-mile race from Sunset Beach to Waimea Bay, is set for 8 a.m. Saturday.

The race also offers a relay division, with the switching point off Ehukai Beach.

Entry fees are $60 for individuals, $75 for teams. Race-day entries will be accepted for an additional $15.

Check-in is 6:30-7:30 a.m. at Waimea Bay. Shuttle buses will take swimmers to Sunset Beach.

Online registration is available at Active.com. The event benefits Malama Pupukea and the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation.

Roller derby scrimmage honors military

Pacific Roller Derby’s "Salute the Troops" scrimmage, featuring the Bettie Boots against the Anchors & Fly Girls, will be held Saturday at the Hideway Club on the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station at Barbers Point.

Doors open at 3 p.m. followed by the 4 p.m. scrimmage. General admission is $10, $8 for military and kamaaina, and free for ages 12 and under.

Non-military fans are required to RSVP on the league’s Facebook page by noon on Thursday for base access or be sponsored by an active-duty military member.
