Kaiser quarterback Kalawai’a Judd threw for 206 yards and two touchdowns in the first half and Jensen McDaniel broke off two long touchdown runs in the third quarter to give the Cougars a 45-6 victory for their first win over Waipahu since 2005.
McDaniel, the OIA Red’s leading rusher, finished with 162 yards on 14 carries and touchdown runs of 62 and 43 yards. Backup Keith Jones II added a career-high 135 rushing yards on 16 carries and a touchdown for the Cougars (2-1).
Judd completed his first five throws of the game, which included a 76-yard scoring toss to Destin Moss and a 39-yard touchdown to Isaiah Pongasi-Adric.
Judd’s first incomplete pass was an interception by linebacker Matthew Leilua that led to Waipahu’s only touchdown.
Jacob Anae capped a seven-play drive with a 2-yard touchdown run with less than 3 minutes in the half.
Kaiser led 24-6 at the break after a 27-yard field goal by Matt Sai.
The Cougars committed 16 penalties for 158 yards.
Quarterback Gavin Marques finished 8-for-18 for 117 yards for Waipahu (0-4).
McDaniel has rushed for at least 150 yards in each of his first three varsity games.
Kaiser had two 100-yard rushers in the same game for the second time in as many years. Fitou Fisiiahi and Thomas Buntenbah-Leong both went over 100 in a win over Waialua in 2013.
