Man charged in theft of copper
Prosecutors charged a 29-year-old homeless man Wednesday in connection with the theft of more than a pound of copper from a Sand Island construction site.
Police said Brandon Baniaga was one of two men who witnesses said took the copper Monday night. Both men fled before officers arrived.
Police caught Baniaga on Sand Island Access Road near the entrance to the Keehi Small Boat Harbor.
His bail was set at $30,000 for copper theft and a drug charge.
Suspect sought in sexual assault
Police are looking for a suspect after a woman said a man broke into her Waipahu home Wednesday and sexually assaulted her.
The incident occurred about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The police report did not release a description of the suspect. The victim told police the man fled after the attack.
