New paddling race for women set

The inaugural Na Wahine Ikaika, a paddling race for women, is scheduled for Oct. 11, the day before the men’s Molokai Hoe.

The race is from Maunalua Beach to Kaimana Beach starting at 10 a.m. Divisions include OC-1, OC-2, OC-3 and OC-6; SS-1 and SS-2; Vi-1; and standup and prone paddleboard with awards in various age categories, some with cash purses.

Race-day registration and check-in is from 8 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. at Maunalua Bay. Registration fees vary by watercraft. For information, go to kanakaikaika.com.
