City identifies woman killed in H-1 crash
The city Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 64-year-old woman who was killed Oct. 1 when her truck went over an H-1 freeway guardrail and rolled down an embankment in Aiea.
Beverly Ledesma of Waipahu died of blunt force injuries to the body, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
Police said Ledesma was driving a Dodge pickup truck east and changing lanes when the truck struck the front bumper of another vehicle. Ledesma’s truck veered off the roadway, went over the metal guardrail and rolled down the embankment about 60 to 80 feet below the freeway, police said.
The accident occurred at 8:20 a.m., about a quarter-mile east of the Kaahumanu Street overpass.
The impact of the crash caused the second vehicle to swerve into the metal guardrail and then veer to the left, colliding with at least two more vehicles. The other drivers involved in the crash were not injured, police said.
Police closed two lanes of the freeway for several hours while they investigated the crash.
