Kamana Beamer, left, was the guest of honor at a pau hana reception and book-signing party celebrating the publication of his new book, “No Makou Ka Mana: Liberating the Nation,” Tuesday at the Kamakakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies on the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus. Before the start of the formal program, UH faculty member Craig Howes congratulated Beamer on his book, a thoroughly researched reassessment of 19th-century Hawaiian history.
