Search for missing hiker is suspended
The Honolulu Fire Department has suspended its search for missing hiker Noemi Alcotas pending further information.
Alcotas has been missing since Friday when, investigators say, she and boyfriend Jojo Acosta were apparently swept into the ocean off a remote area of Hanauma Bay by a large wave.
Hikers found bags belonging to Alcotas and Acosta on a cliff above the Bridge Rock shoreline formation and alerted HFD and the city Ocean Safety Division. Acosta’s body was discovered in the water later that day.
There has been no further sign of Alcotas despite more than three full days of intensive land, sea and air searches.
