Wahine to hold clinic on Molokai
Kalei Adolpho is taking her "Molokai Slide" step-out move back home.
At least that’s the plan, weather permitting.
The senior middle blocker and her Hawaii volleyball teammates are scheduled to hold a clinic and intrasquad scrimmage Saturday at Adolpho’s alma mater, Molokai High. As of Wednesday, the youth clinic was set for 3:30 p.m. and the scrimmage for 6:30 p.m. An autograph session will be held in between.
"I’m really excited," Adolpho said. "It will be fun for my family and the community to have something like this. There’s usually not a lot of activities on Saturday. I think a lot of people will come out."
The Hawaii coaching staff will monitor weather conditions Thursday and discuss with organizers on Molokai before making a final decision on traveling. One issue is that the high school gym is one of the island’s evacuation centers.
Cross Country
UH heads to Bronco Invite
The Rainbow Wahine cross country team will race at Saturday’s Bronco Invitational at Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale, Calif. The race is its third on the mainland this season.
Hawaii is coming off one of its best performances at last week’s Chaminade Invitational. All five of its scoring runners placed in the top 20. Montana Martinez placed seventh and has been the team’s top finisher in all five of its races this season. Running on Saturday are Martinez, Caitlyn Foss, Alexa Foster, Louise Mulvey, Hayley Musashi and Tiare Nakashima.
