First there was T.C. Campbell and P.J. Minaya.
Now it’s Warner Shaw.
The latest Pacific (Ore.) quarterback to take over the Boxers offense threw the game-winning touchdown pass with 4:09 remaining on Saturday to give Pacific a 31-28 victory over Pacific Lutheran, which was ranked No. 18 in Division III.
Shaw, a 2012 graduate of Kamehameha-Hawaii, completed 21 of 24 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Boxers to their biggest win since the school reinstated the football program in 2010.
Pacific beat a ranked team for the first time since and snapped a 17-game losing streak to the Lutes dating back to 1972.
Campbell, who graduated from Kamehameha, and Minaya (Hanalani, ’10), a record-setting high school quarterback who played for Pac-Five, were the two primary QBs for the Boxers over the past four seasons.
Shaw won the job this season and has led the Boxers to a 3-0 start in Northwest Conference play for the first time.
Receiver Jordan Fukumoto (Saint Louis ’10), who had three receptions for 27 yards, caught a 9-yard TD pass from Shaw and junior Bronson Barretto (Kamehameha ’12) added a 5-yard TD run in the win over the Lutes.
Sophomore Kamana Pimental (Saint Louis ’12) led the Boxers with a game-high 72 yards rushing on 18 carries and Darin Kamealoha (Hanalani ’10) added three catches for 44 yards.
Linebacker Trey Kodama (Kamehameha ’12) had four tackles and a fumble recovery and defensive backs Max Look (‘Iolani ’14) and Chase Rogers (Lahainaluna ’11) chipped in three tackles each.
