Moniz scores 2 good rides
Hawaii’s Joshua Moniz put up 18.37 points (out of 20) to advance at the Allianz ASP World Junior Championships in Portugal on Tuesday.
Moniz beat South Africa’s Slade Prestwich in the third round on Tuesday, trailing 9.50 to 9.00 after the first set but scoring 9.37 for the win.
The contest hopes to have a resolution on Wednesday, with Moniz taking on Puerto Rico’s Vasco Ribeiro in the fourth round.
Hawaii’s Mahina Maeda is in the semifinals of the women’s contest. She will face Bronte Macaulay of Australia.
