Hawaii’s No. 1 — and No. 49
Hawaii’s high quality of life — we’re No. 1 nationally! — comes at high expense to businesses and living costs.
A new CNBC survey of "America’s Top States for Business 2014" scored the 50 states on competitiveness measures, developed using "input from business groups, economic development experts, companies and the states themselves."
Among the 10 broad categories rated, Hawaii ranked near the bottom — we’re 49th! — in three of them: Cost of doing business, workforce and cost of living.
Conversely, the state ranked worse in quality of life — Tennessee — rated among the top 10 in the categories of infrastructure, workforce and cost of living. Go figure.
